Each February, the Town of Beech Mountain and Beech Mountain Resort come together to create a righteously rad celebration of all things ‘80s. The eighth annual Retro ’80s Weekend takes place mid-February with live ’80s music nightly, retro skiing daily, and plenty of throwback activities in between. Hop in our “ski slope time machine” to revisit the New Wave era of big hair, leg warmers, and Members Only jackets.
Join the fun of one of the world’s largest Wizard of Oz festivals! Skip down the Yellow Brick Road atop Beech Mountain – one mile high in the sky – where you are literally over the rainbow. This is the only event of its kind where you are immersed into the magical Land of Oz and meet your favorite characters from the classic story. Explore unique arts & crafts vendors, delicious varieties of food and beverages, and live performances!
Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, in Boone NC, High Country Beer Fest is a celebration of quality craft beer, ciders, and other brews with an emphasis on education. Sample craft beverages from over 50 unique breweries while contributing to educational programs that will help create better beer for years to come.
Shuttles are available from Appalachian State’s Peacock parking lot to the fairgrounds from 1:15 to 3:30 pm. Shuttles will return to the Peacock parking lot from the festival from 6:30 until the end of the festival. Please plan ahead for transportation - there are shuttles available and more details on their website.
Enjoy fine arts and handcrafts from award-winning and acclaimed artisans. Artists are jury-selected and each show features a different set of artists, curated to present a wide variety of mediums. Find gifts and works for personal collections, functional beauties like furniture and cutlery, and wearable art like handcrafted jewelry and textiles. Artists’ tents line Park Avenue right in downtown Blowing Rock so attendees can enjoy proximity to other shopping, as well as dining options and local parks. Make a weekend of it, and stay for the outdoor Concert in the Park hat follows each Art in the Park on Sundays!
Locals and visitors look forward to this free concert series each year, with shows starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Tate-Evans Town Park Amphitheater. Outstanding local and regional bands play fun dance music suitable for all ages, from Southern Rock to Oldies and Soul/Funk. Food vendors are on site and there is a raffle to support the series.
